“If I were in charge of choosing ‘International Woman’s Day’, I would have chosen the day that the Quran was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) in the Cave of Hira.
That day, when a strong, brave, intelligent man named Muhammad, rushed to have his fears calmed and his anxieties soothed…he rushed back to a woman.
That day when Muhammad ignored all of his people, and his friends, and all of mankind, in order to tell a woman that the Heavens had opened up to him.
That day when a woman calmed her husband down, and supported him, and encouraged him, and held his hand and took him to someone who would interpret the events of the day.
That day when she became the first to believe in him and his message, and promised to stand by his side, and opened up her own personal treasures to help him.
That day when she believed while everyone else rejected; when she comforted him while everyone else threatened; when she supported his mission when everyone else mocked.
That lady who never once in any manner betrayed him, and whose death caused him such grief that the entire year of her death is called ‘The Year of Sorrow’, and it was the will of Allah that he be consoled through the miracle of al-Isra wa-l-Mi’raj.
May Allah have mercy on our Mother Khadijah, the Mother of the Believers and the greatest role model of women, for all of us, for all of eternity.”

I ask Allah Ar Raqeeb (the One who sees what’s hidden in the hearts) as He nurtured love in the heart of His very Messenger for his wife to nurture love for us all in the heart of those who become halaal to us and to those bound to us.
